Advancing Sustainability in Aviation with the DAIR Green Fund

Like most companies supporting the aviation sector today, Burloak Technologies is seeking out new ways to enhance the sector’s sustainability – with a goal to help reduce the impact of air travel on the environment.

Most recently, Burloak Technologies entered into a partnership with Downsview Aerospace Innovation & Research (DAIR), a consortium of academia and industry stakeholders, via the DAIR Green Fund.  Funded by the Federal Economic Development Agency for Southern Ontario (FedDev Ontario), this important program is designed to support small- to medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) by enabling collaborative projects focused on the development of green technologies and solutions for aerospace.

DAIR’s overall mandate is to enhance southern Ontario’s competitive edge by harnessing local R&D and expertise to drive the collaboration and innovation required to position the region as a world-leading aerospace innovation hub. A proud member of the southern Ontario manufacturing ecosystem, Burloak Technologies shares the DAIR Green Fund’s mandate to develop innovative and sustainable aviation technologies. Through our engagement with this program, we're committed to leveraging both our expertise in additive manufacturing (AM) and the sustainable attributes of this rapidly emerging manufacturing approach.

To celebrate our partnership and the potential for a more environmentally friendly future, we were proud to join DAIR at their Green Fund celebration event on March 14th.

“To meet our goal of becoming a net-zero economy, we must ensure that we are providing the new capabilities and technology for industries to easily make the transition. The DAIR Green Fund provides supports to businesses who are leading the charge in creating sustainable innovations that will help grow Canada’s aerospace industry. The eight businesses in southern Ontario that we are celebrating today have created environmentally friendly projects that will keep this industry competitive globally and create more jobs nationally. Our government is committed to finding new ways to move toward a greener economy that works for everyone.” – Hon. Filomena Tassi, Minister Responsible for the Federal Economic Development Agency for Southern Ontario
