As an Outside Sales Representative, you are the primary representative with new and existing customers to service and grow business relationships. In this remote position, you will be responsible for a territory covering Western Ohio, Indiana and Michigan. A strong sense of customer service and quality delivery, will help you succeed in this demanding and rewarding area of business at Samuel Son & Co.


  • Coordinate various Samuel support personnel to meeting the customers current and future service needs
  • New account development
  • Existing account maintenance
  • Margin realization
  • Hitting targeted sales and tonnage goals as provided by Director on an annual basis
  • Providing quarterly forecasts for budgeting purposes
  • Developing assigned territory to uncover every possible sales opportunity
  • Developing relationships with all key decision makers within existing and prospective customer base
  • Providing value added opportunities to both the customer and Samuel
  • Responsible for initiating and delivering quotes / contracts between the customer and Samuel as well as acting as the primary point of contact within the designated territory for any issues, concerns or opportunities
  • Inventory and expense management
  • Full understanding of our core competencies as it related to capabilities and products throughout the Samuel organization
  • Full understanding of competitor profiles within territory
  • Attending trade shows / conferences within the assigned territory
  • Continue to seek opportunities for personal development to build on ability to be successful in territory


  • College degree or diploma in Business Administration or related field preferred
  • 3-5 years' experience in B2B sales in an Automotive Metals Service Center
  • Experience/knowledge with Automotive Advanced High Strength Steel (AHSS) and flat rolled aluminum strongly preferred.
  • Excellent oral and written communication, interpersonal, and customer service skills
  • Ability to work with a minimum of supervision
  • Good organization and time management skills as well as the ability to meet deadlines
  • Familiarity with TS16949 / QS9000 / ISO14001 a benefit
  • Exposure to AS400 or other ERP systems is an asset
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Applications
