Job Description:

Reporting to the VP Procurement, this role is responsible for leading and managing procurement strategies for the enterprise-wide procurement program. This role acts as a pivotal support function and enabler for the business units on key procurement processes, such as supplier strategy, cost negotiations and savings, contract management, procurement analytics etc. The incumbent will also drive strong collaborations with regional procurement and operations teams to establish strategic and operational alignment with strong internal customer focus.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Provides procurement leadership and guidance through extensive collaboration and alignment with regional and branch operations within Service Center and Manufacturing verticals, develop deeper understanding of the business needs so that commodity procurement strategy can meet business/customer expectations
• Leads supplier development initiatives consistent with commodity strategy and at the same time fulfilling business needs in terms of cost, specification and supply chain expectations
• Supports new sales/business development initiatives by evaluating options within the procurement market place for suppliers that provides best cost and most optimal technical and manufacturing solutions
• Develop and execute regional and branch specific supplier procurement strategies
• Member of the source council that evaluates sourcing decision and approves commodity strategy and sourcing decisions within the aluminum commodity group that includes Coil/Sheet, Plate and extrusions
• Develops commercial road map that delivers cost competitiveness and targeted cost savings
• Build and manage mill supplier relationships to work towards sustainable and long term partnerships that delivers significant cost benefits to businesses
• Create and monitor metrics to track supplier performance, consumption, tonnage and rebate programs;
• Develops cost models and analytical tools that provides full transparency to cost drivers.
• Liaison with peers in Stainless and Carbon metal groups and shared services to share best practices and trends
• Build trust and open communication channels with regional and branch level procurement teams to understand needs and problems and build resolution plan
• Provide training across the business through webinars, branch visits and through supplier programs about in-house procurement policies, practices and new developments in metal procurement
• Coach and mentor regional procurement teams
• Other responsibilities as assigned

REQUIREMENTS:


• Bachelor’s in Business, Supply Chain, Finance or related field or equivalent work experience
• Professional designation such as Supply Chain Management Professional (SCMP) or equivalent
• 10 or more years of progressive experience in strategic procurement ideally within industrial manufacturing/automotive/aerospace industries
• An accomplished procurement/supply chain professional with minimum 10 years of experience, ideally within automotive or industrial/manufacturing setting.
• Leadership experience of developing and managing teams in multi-site operations and matrix reporting structure.
• Have solid understanding of strategic procurement, commodity management, leveraged buying and global/regional procurement markets.
• Extensive commodity procurement experience, ideally in aluminum
• Prior experience with Aluminum product manufacturers and suppliers will be of significant advantage
• Data driven with strong analytical skills; able to generate a wide range reports and process data that forms the basis for solid decision making
• Solid understanding of concepts such as cost analysis, cost drivers and cost modelling
• A proponent of change who can introduce modern procurement concepts and influence people
• Have prior experience in/exposure to inventory management
• Excellent oral and written communication, interpersonal and negotiation skills
• Possess the ability to work with minimum supervision
• Good organization and time management skills as well as the ability to meet deadlines
• Bachelor’s degree, Engineering, Business/Economics; MBA will be an asset
• Prior ERP experience: SAP/MS Dynamics/JDE
• Solid understanding of ISO/TS 16949 system/ Policies and Procedures/compliance requirements
• Strong negotiation, communication and relationship building skills
• Proficient in MS Office applications
• Ability to travel as required
