Job Description:

​Nelson Steel Technology designs and supplies equipment for the steel pickling industry. 

This role presents an excellent growth opportunity for someone looking to take on more challenging work that will eventually split time between the office and plant floor and lead installation of pickling lines around the world. Full training will be provided. The right candidate is a problem solver, with strong communication and learning skills.

This role will be based out of Samuel's Nelson facility in Stoney Creek, Ontario.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Troubleshoot and repair motor starter circuits, control circuits, PLC ladder logic, Allen Bradley SLC500, AC and DC electrical drives.

  • Work with the maintenance team to ensure the plant has little to no downtime.

  • Responsible for all electrical modifications and repairs performed following lock-out tag out procedures.

  • Maintains all electrical schematic drawings.

  • Oversees electrical preventative maintenance program.

  • Coordinates requisitions of parts and supplies.

  • Coordinates all safety aspects of electrical systems.

  • Works closely with Millwrights and assists with mechanical tasks when required.

  • Performs all other related duties as assigned, including electrical inspection by the local Hydro Department.


  • Must have an Ontario Trade Certificate as an industrial electrician

  • 4+ years of experience as electrician in a manufacturing environment

  • Ability to work with others in a team based environment

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, and ability to confidently interact with all levels in the organization

  • A self-starter with a proven track record of building personal work plans that keep priorities on schedule

  • Demonstrated high level of competence with MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
