As the Training & Development Manager, you will help to build and grow the training and development offerings at Samuel Son & Co. Your analytical abilities will allow you to deliver metrics to help evolve succession planning. Your strong communication skills will allow you to effectively communicate and deliver training to all levels of the organization. Your knowledge of building content and effective learning strategies will enable you to build effective training programs and eLearning offerings. Over all you will build and evolve how Samuel delivers training.
Project manage the training design process including needs assessment, developing training content and facilitating or delivering training
Establish follow-up 'team coaching sessions' with small groups of participants post training to assess behavior change and further development suggestions
Conduct RFQ to select appropriate vendors to support in the development of the training solution
Assess & report on training participation & effectiveness
Manage the planned budget for training programs and seek opportunities to establish more efficient/cost effective processes, or solutions
Develop e-learning programs and post training assessments utilizing adaptive learning technology platform
Revise and update the talent review documentation
Establish annual timeline and book all meetings to ensure milestones are met – partner with HR to collect talent review data
Collect, analyze, and report on all talent review data and make recommendations for talent development interventions to mitigate succession risks
Preparation of Succession Plan presentations for the Business Unit, Executive Team and Board of Directors Succession Management Meeting
Propose the most relevant leadership development and talent management metrics to be tracked based on existing data
Research best practices and make recommendations on effective tools
Provide a timely response on pre-hire assessment debriefs
Establish and execute assessment processes: communicating & debriefing with participants and their managers
Manage the employee engagement survey process
Act as a key content owner for the intranet site which is a resource for employee development information – promote the Samuel training guide and other resources for employee development on the site
Act as a Change management SME and coach deployed on various project requiring change support
Ownership of the new hire orientation process – host monthly webex orientation sessions and ensure monthly launch of 6-month post hire assessment – report on results and make recommendations for improvements
Support curriculum development and update supporting tools
Seek continuous improvement opportunities for the onboarding process
Post-graduate (MA) training in Organizational Psychology, Human Resources or a related field
7-10 years of experience in learning & development
Certification or training in adult education
Experience supporting change initiatives
Knowledge of HR and Organizational Development related principles and best working practices and procedures.
Advanced Microsoft Office Skills required – Excel (Pivot tables, V look-ups, etc.), Word, PowerPoint, SharePoint
Experience with building simple e-learning lessons an asset
Other HR-related system knowledge an asset.
Communicates verbally with clarity, in one-on-one or group situations, or over the telephone
Communicates well in writing with a strong attention to detail by composing clear documents; facility with editing and/or proof-reading is required.
Strong customer service, relationship building, conflict resolution, analytical, organizational, interpersonal, and project management skills.
Ability to self-direct and show initiative. Adaptable to set and prioritize work with varying exceptions.
Able to work with diverse personalities and styles in a professional manner with tact, diplomacy and discretion in dealing with colleagues including senior management.
Ability to travel within North America (25% travel required)
