Job Description:

Dual reporting to the President Packaging Solutions Group and Vice President Indirect & Non Metal Procurement, this role provides leadership for procurement at packaging business and non-metal commodity procurement. The incumbent will lead a team of procurement professionals within the business unit and ensure compliance to enterprise-wide procurement and supply chain practices. This role acts as a pivotal support function and enabler for the business unit on key procurement processes, such as supplier strategy, cost negotiations and savings, contract management, procurement analytics etc. Further this role will ensure strong alignment with metal commodity teams by supporting and executing leveraged commodity and supplier strategies.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

 

 • Provides leadership for the implementation and compliance to enterprise-wide procurement and supply chain practices within the packaging business unit.
• Provides leadership for the non-metal commodity procurement for the packaging business.
• Ensures strong collaboration with metal commodity procurement team by supporting the metal commodity team in the leveraged negotiations and execution of commodity/supplier strategies.
• Leads supplier development initiatives for non-metal commodities as assigned by Vice President of Procurement. 
• Supports new sales/business development initiatives by evaluating options within the procurement market place for suppliers that provides best cost and most optimal technical and manufacturing solutions
• Member of the source council that evaluates sourcing decision and approves commodity strategy and sourcing decisions
• Develops commercial road map that delivers cost competitiveness and targeted cost savings
• Build and manage mill supplier relationships to work towards sustainable and long term partnerships that delivers significant cost benefits to businesses
• Implements supplier scorecard and tracks supplier performance; drives continuous improvement initiatives with suppliers to improve cost, quality and delivery performance.
• Develops cost models and analytical tools that provides full transparency to cost drivers.
• Build trust and open communication channels within procurement organization to develop synergies, better collaboration and drive process improvements.
• Coach and mentor regional procurement teams
• Other responsibilities as assigned

QUALIFICATIONS:

 

• Bachelor’s in Business, Supply Chain, Finance or related field or equivalent work experience
• Professional designation such as Supply Chain Management Professional (SCMP) or equivalent
• 10 or more years of progressive experience in strategic sourcing and procurement ideally within industrial manufacturing/automotive/aerospace industries
• Strong knowledge of plastics and resin industry
• Extensive experience in leading new product and or new supplier development initiatives in a highly competitive business environment
• Solid understanding of packaging industry and associated materials will be of significant advantage
• Experience in a similar role in a multisite manufacturing environment is required
• Strong analytical skills with deep expertise in creating cost models and advance level cost evaluation tools.
• Strong leadership skills and proactive work ethic
• Experience with managing change in a similar role is an asset
• Strong knowledge of procurement related laws and regulations within the Canadian, USA and Mexico
• Outstanding communication and relationship building skills with both internal stakeholders and external vendors and suppliers
• Strong negotiation, communication and relationship building skills
• Proficient in MS Office applications
• Self-starter and ability to work with minimal supervision
• Ability to travel as required
•Prior Hands-on experience in ERP systems ideally SAP/MS Dynamics/JDE
