Job Description:

Reporting to the VP Procurement, this role is responsible for establishing structure for the enterprise-wide procurement program, from governance, policymaking to reporting. This role acts as a pivotal support function and enabler for the business units on key procurement processes, such as supplier strategy, cost negotiations and savings, contract management, procurement analytics etc. The incumbent will also drive strong collaborations with regional procurement and operations teams to establish strategic and operational alignment with strong internal customer focus.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Through extensive collaboration and alignment with regional and branch operations within Service Center and Manufacturing verticals, develop deeper understanding of the business needs so that commodity procurement strategy can meet business/customer expectations
• Leads supplier development initiatives consistent with commodity strategy and at the same time fulfilling business needs in terms of cost, specification and supply chain expectations
• Supports new sales/business development initiatives by evaluating options within the procurement market place for suppliers that provides best cost and most optimal technical and manufacturing solutions
• Develop and execute regional and branch specific supplier procurement strategies
• Member of the source council that evaluates sourcing decision and approves commodity strategy and sourcing decisions
• Develops commercial road map that delivers cost competitiveness and targeted cost savings
• Manage, implement and communicate all stainless steel inventory programs
• Build and manage mill supplier relationships to work towards sustainable and long term partnerships that delivers significant cost benefits to businesses
• Create and monitor metrics to track supplier performance, consumption, tonnage and rebate programs;
• Develops cost models and analytical tools that provides full transparency to cost drivers.
• Monitor value of raw materials including nickel, chrome, copper, manganese and iron
• Create and distribute daily reports to monitor open order, receipts and surcharge forecasts
• Liaison with peers in Aluminum and Carbon metal groups and shared services to share best practices and trends
• Build trust and open communication channels with regional and branch level procurement teams to understand needs and problems and build resolution plan
• Provide training across the business through webinars, branch visits and through supplier programs about in-house procurement policies, practices and new developments in metal procurement
• Coach and mentor regional procurement teams
• Other responsibilities as assigned

REQUIREMENTS:

• Bachelor’s in Business, Supply Chain, Finance or related field or equivalent work experience
• Professional designation such as Supply Chain Management Professional (SCMP) or equivalent
• 7 years of progressive experience in strategic sourcing and procurement ideally within industrial manufacturing/automotive/aerospace industries
• Strong knowledge of metals industry;
• Prior experience in buying ferrous/non-ferrous commodities from Mills and Service Centers will be an advantage
• Expertise in Low cost/best cost country sourcing and procurement will be of significant advantage
• Experience in a similar role in a multisite manufacturing environment is required
• Strong analytical skills with deep expertise in creating cost models and advance level cost evaluation tools.
• Strong leadership skills and proactive work ethic
• Experience with managing change in a similar role is an asset
• Strong knowledge of procurement related laws and regulations within the Canadian, USA and Mexico
• Outstanding communication and relationship building skills with both internal stakeholders and external vendors and suppliers
• Strong negotiation, communication and relationship building skills
• Proficient in MS Office applications
• Self starter and ability to work with minimal supervision
• Ability to travel as required
• Prior Hands-on experience in ERP systems ideally SAP/MS Dynamics/JDE
