Position: Shipping Supervisor - Scheduler

Job Description:

​Supervise and direct shipping and receiving department through material receiving, staging, shipping and related activities to successfully meet customer requirements.  Maintain communication with all departments to ensure proper flow of material through the facility and maintain issues which will effect on time delivery of customer releases and is reported back to the customer.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Verifies and keeps records on incoming and outgoing shipments and prepares items for shipment: Compares identifying information and counts, weighs, or measures items of incoming and outgoing shipments to verify information against bills of lading, invoices, orders, or other records.

  • Determines method of shipment, utilizing knowledge of shipping procedures, routes, and rates.

  • Posts weights and shipping charges, and affixes postage.

  • Routes items to departments.

  • Review computer ship schedule daily for orders required to ship, works with Sales and Production to manage the schedule and monitors daily shipment and delivery performance.

  • Set up, manage and organize shipping and receiving storage locations that comply with ERP requirements.

  • Maintain communication regarding orders and delivery dates with Sales and Customers.

  • Participate in the APQP meetings, ensuring all new products or process changes are communicated to the appropriate personnel in assigned departments.  Initiate any system changes to allow for successful implementation of new part numbers or process changes.

  • Ensure all departments adhere to the FIFO, (First In/First Out) procedure related to in-house inventory and shipment schedules.

  • Communicate with customers on the inventory required to accommodate their requirements.

  • Oversees the daily supervision of shipping and receiving teams.

  • Develop and manage positive customer relationships.

  • Supervise, train and motivate staff by communicating and monitoring performance.

  • Examines outgoing shipments to ensure shipments meet specifications.

  • Maintains inventory of shipping materials and supplies.

  • Assists any member of the management team on any and all projects they are working on.

  • Maintains the office supply orders as well as audits its accuracy, gets supplies to the appropriate individual.

  • Assist with quarterly inventory counts and year end physical inventory.

  • Participate and contribute to ongoing continuous improvement initiatives.

  • Understanding and applying lean manufacturing tools in shipping, receiving, inventory control and warehousing.

  • Any other responsibility requested by members of the management team.

 

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma; BSc/BA or College Degree in supply chain, logistics with minimum 3 years of job related experience.

  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook)

  • 1-2 years of experience with an ERP system (D365 is an asset)

  • Knowledge of lean manufacturing

  • Knowledge of EDI/ASN transactions

  • Familiar with improving shipping and receiving KPI's

  • Experience in applying standard work in shipping and receiving

  • Able to work in a team environment to achieve goals

  • Familiar with cross boarder documentation and CTPAT requirements

  • Trained and well versed in Health & Safety as it relates to a manufacturing environment

  • Previous experience with overhead cranes and forklifts
