Job Description:

​The Market Development Manager will identify opportunities and outline priorities to drive the growth of the business within the Commercial team. This role will be instrumental in gathering intelligence to guide strategic decision making by executives within the business. This role be critical in guiding future success of the company.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop compelling business cases for identified opportunities, including market segmentation, product positioning and distribution options

  • Collaborate with the Strategic Alliance or Joint Venture partners, Samuel Verticals and Samuel business leaders to determine feasibility/ability to deliver to those markets

  • Collaborate with the merger and acquisition team to identify additional strategic partnerships and/or acquisitions that advance the strategic goals of this position

  • Work with Business Unit Mangers, Engineering, Manufacturing, and Sales functions to effectively transition candidate products from concept to full commercialization

  • Lead the growth of a strategic joint venture that is expected to exceed $200M over 3-5 years

  • Build network and channels to gather market intelligence and utilize financial, internal marketing and industry data to recommend strategies and courses of action

  • Develop financial and market performance KPIs to allow for program monitoring against strategic, corporate and operating goals. Evaluate results and effectiveness of the strategy

  • Regularly benchmark and remain current on future trends and developments related to government standards, industry practices, legislation, guidelines, new technologies, and programs related to the Industry

  • Collaborate with Corporate Strategic Marketing and Brand Management teams to design, develop and execute marketing programs



  • Bachelor's degree/diploma in business or equivalent

  • Minimum 8-10 years of experience in progressive and strategic market development roles

  • Some experience in a sales role is preferred

  • Demonstrated experience in business case development

  • Demonstrated experience in gathering and drawing conclusions from business intelligence and market data

  • Experience in a B2B or manufacturing environment

  • Ability to develop cost/benefit analysis and provide forecasts

  • Strong analytical skills

  • Strong strategic thinking and experience in developing and implementing revenue growth strategies

  • Ability to influence without authority

  • Work independently
